winter fly fishing

San Juan River News and Alerts
Animas River in Durango is at critical low flows (thanks in part to the pump plant for the damn Night Horse Lake). With the low flows the San Juan flows have ramped up over a 1000 CFS.

NEWS:
Closures: Navajo Lake State Park closures (the last 2) have been cancelled! That's right folks, parks open.

Flows: There will not be spring or early summer releases for the San Juan below Navajo Dam. When the Animas drops to low flows, the San Juan may see increased flows. Flows would ramp-up between 800 to 1000 CFS.

Fishing: Great spring fishing on the San Juan Quality Waters. Looks like the fish are healthy and the bugs are hatching.

FLOW: San Juan flow is 1300 CFS. Perfect flow for float or wade fishing.

Releases are made for the authorized purposes of the Navajo Unit, and to attempt to meet flow recommendations for the endangered fish in the San Juan River.
